Aurora’s Takeover Insights

1. What is your favorite hike?

Definitely Three peaks (Mt. Olomana Trail). a beautiful hike in Kailua.

2. What is the best thing about studying in Hawaii?

Definitely snorkeling, roadtrips, food, Açaí  bowls, surfing and the sunsets.

3. Was it easy to find somewhere to live, when you moved to Hawaii?

It took some time, but I didn’t stress so much about it either. I know several people who stayed in an Airbnb for a few weeks while going to viewings here, so no need to panic if you don’t find a place before arriving. But, I reccomend checking out the website Zillow, Airbnb’s and joining Facebook Groups to find an apartment and come in contact with roomies.

4. How expensive is it?

It really is a dream to study here, but yes it comes at a price. Expect high living costs, especially for housing and groceries. But with budgeting, scholarships, and savings, you can make it work.

5. Do you surf?

Living in Hawaii, it’s almost a must. Plus, it’s a great way to take a break from studying.

6. What’s your favorite part of the island?

I love being on the north shore.

7. What’s the hardest part about studying in Hawaii?

Probably being so far away from family and friends back home. But at the same time. I’ve met amazing people here who’ve become like family. And let’s be real – the beaches and sunsets help a little too.

8. I’m moving to Hawaii by myself next semester. Was it easy to make friends?

If you’re open to new experiences and willing to talk to people, you’ll be fine! Most people here are friendly and looking to connect. Remember you’re not alone, plenty of others are in the same position.
